A few weeks ago my mom found some darling blue and white seersucker overalls for Tukes in a consignment shop. Sadly, there are some small, stubborn rust spots on the bib area. Years ago when I was a girl my grandmother taught me to embroider -- something I haven't done in at least seven years! In an effort to hide the rust spots, the overalls became my newest project. I decided to embroider "something cute" on the bib.
My journey began at the local craft store which yielded zero iron transfer patterns that I liked. I came home discouraged but was soon inspired by a car design on a precious sun suit that Tukes wore as an infant. I sketched the design on the overalls in pencil then embroidered over the sketch. When I finished the embroidery I washed the overalls to "erase" the remaining pencil marks. Then I finished the car with two red buttons for wheels.
Overall, I think it turned out pretty cute. The stitching is a bit crude, but with a bit of practice I think I'll get better. This Sunday Tukes will be sporting his new car suit!
