On my heart...

Today's post is a bit of a departure from my daily blogging fare but this is what is heavy on my heart. Perhaps you have heard of the most recent Ebola outbreak, occurring in Bundibugyo, Uganda. Perhaps you haven't.

Doctors Scott and Jennifer Myhre, career, medical missionaries with World Harvest Mission, are presently stationed at the front lines of battle caring for the ill and presenting the hope of the Gospel to those who have contracted this horrible disease, as well as to their families.

As members of one body, the body of Christ, I implore you to pray for them. The saints in Bundibugyo are weary...and drained...and downtrodden...but not without hope. The past 3 weeks have been indescribably harsh for them. The Myhre's have been forced to make a most difficult decision -- she will not care for the ill in order to prevent exposure thus increasing the odds that their four children will have at least one parent who survives the outbreak. The Myhre children have been sent away to safety, although they are separated from their parents.

As we celebrate the birth of our Savior and bask in the joy of the season please remember to pray for the church around the world. Pray for Scott and Jennifer Myhre as they continue their work for the cause of Christ. Pray for the Myrhe children who are far from their parents, facing much uncertainty. Pray for the people of Bundibugyo. Pray that this illness will be contained, that God will spare the lives of those who are ill, and that the Gospel will go forth with power and might changing lives, advancing the Kingdom for His glory.
"We are just people who happened to be in the epicenter of the most recent Ebola outbreak....We are here to serve the sick, to step into whatever gaps we can to assist the national and international responders, and to be a voice of witness to our friends and family to the suffering of Bundibugyo. Those three roles seem to be the path God has called us to."
