Silver spoons
My grandmother used to say that a hostess can never have too many teaspoons when she is entertaining. With that in mind I selected a set of four antique silver plated teaspoons to give to my sister, the bride. This morning I will be attending a miscellaneous bridal shower in her honor!
I found the spoons at our local antique mall. You know, the kind of place that nearly every town boasts, usually near the interstate. Typically I find these antique extravaganzas overwhelming and overpriced. With booth after booth filled with everything from old lace and Pyrex to furniture, hardware, and books -- even a snack bar -- it is too much for me to absorb.
But, shortly after we moved here I discovered the most wonderful little booth when we wandered around the antique mall one Saturday morning. This vendor sells beautiful antique silver plated flatware -- teaspoons, dessert forks, butter knives, sugar spoons, and serving pieces. Her inventory is always changing and her taste is exquisite. Best of all, her prices are amazingly inexpensive. I always have a hard time making my selection.
I like to believe that this booth is my own little wedding gift source. Here's hoping that no one else discovers my secret. And, here's hoping Susie loves her spoons!
