Today I am remembering the brave ones who have given their lives... the ones who have sacrificed their very breath so that our land might continue to ring with freedom.
As a citizen and as a mother my heart is full of gratitude and honor for those who have fought and died so that I can raise my young men in a country where freedom reigns.
I am especially thankful for the noble, brave men who served alongside my grandfather in the 306th Bombardment Group of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in World War 2. They all served bravely -- my grandfather lived, many others did not.
Today I remember those who have fought and died, and I honor them. The gift of freedom does not come at a small price. I am grateful and proud that "the land of the free" was first, and still is, "the home of the brave."
