With so much time, money, and effort going into our recent house renovations the main goals of our summer family getaway, besides having fun, were to keep it short and economical. One of our retirement funds offered a great rate at a nice hotel and resort on the bay, this became our destination.
The National Naval Aviation Museum was an especially fun outing for my three high-flying, jet-loving guys. Located on Pensacola Naval Air Station, we had a grand time picnicking and jet watching one afternoon. Admission is free!
The hotel and resort offered a beautiful setting and enough fun, free activities to keep us happily entertained for two days.
We bicycled around the point both days. Boo was thrilled to bring his own bike on the trip. Tukes screamed from his spot in the baby seat for the first fifteen minutes of our first ride before deciding that, yes, bicycling is fun after all.
The professor and Boo kayaked on the bay. Boo was beyond excited... he's been kayak dreaming for months.
While the big guys had boating adventures Tukes spent some time thinking and splashing in the chef's herb garden.
The beach was fun, too, with boat watching, sand play, and hermit crab hunting. All in all it was a happy, exhausting trip... the perfect way to wrap up our summer break.
