Cheap Summer Fun

"Mommy, I didn't paint anything from this world, I just painted the shapes that I saw in my mind."

I was considering summer art lessons for my little modernist... the city's department of parks and recreation is offering a week's worth for $40. That was until I learned that our art museum is hosting an entire summer {three months!!!} of free Saturday morning art workshops for kids. Now that is a deal I can't refuse!

The city's bicycle club organizes weekly rides in town. Membership is free and open to any age. Voila, a free, fun, and healthy activity for the family.

Free summer concerts each week in the park, the local strider's club meets for regular area walks, a family fun day hosted by the university... it's all free and fun, the makings of happy summer days.

I'm learning to dig a little deeper and, at times, look in unlikely places for memorable summer activities that won't break our budget. Where do you look within your community for inexpensive summer fun?
