The Hundred Dresses

If your bookstore browsing or thrift store wanderings lead you to a copy of The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes, by all means do take it home with you. This poignant, tender story is a lovely evening read. The gentle, graceful illustrations by the Caldecott Medal winner Louis Slobodkin are captivating.

When you have finished savoring the story on your own, brew two cups of tea {be sure to sweeten one with plenty of sugar} and share it with your young daughter. This little book is delightful while clearly conveying the importance of showing kindness and compassion to others.
