Of Houses, a Dream, and Grace

Oven veggie frittata, breakfast protein :: Monday, a week ago, back to school - first and fourth grades :: Homework already :: Living among boxes :: A special request, spaghetti and meatballs.

And this... what I wrote to a friend several weeks ago:

Our most exciting summer news is that we have sold our house and are in the process of buying another house. The past 18 months have been a difficult, wandering journey of desire, prayer, uncertainty, closed doors, faded dreams, persistence, dreams reborn, and faith for the professor and me. In late June God graciously brought us a buyer, a precious young family who seems to love our house as much as we do. At the same time He began opening a door for us to buy a house that we have admired for several years, a house situated in a lovely neighborhood with wonderful neighbors.

Built in 1964, the "new" house has just enough mid-century modern verve to delight our atomic ranch loving hearts! The inside needs more work than I'm willing to fully acknowledge, but we're ready and excited! The professor and I are having fun dreaming dreams... one of the greatest delights in marriage is having someone with whom to create and share dreams. Don't you agree?

So there it is... we're planning to move very, very soon. Until then we remain prayerful as we try to hold all of this in open hands. While this blessing brings us great delight, I am ever mindful that our earthly home is a temporary dwelling place, a mere shadow of what is to come...

One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple. Psalm 27:4

A new-to-us house... a huge, fun{!?} project... the realization of a dream... all of this is grace, and so is the journey that has brought us to this place.
