A few weeks ago we had some backyard tree branches trimmed. They were hanging over our neighbor's house. Our neighbors, the ones who live behind us, are the original owners of their home; they built their house in 1964 at the same time that our house was being built. They're in their eighties now. He's a die-hard Braves fan and she's currently taking a class on insects. When the children and I go out for an afternoon ramble we see the Jack-o-lantern they've carved and placed on their wing-wall. In a few weeks, well before Thanksgiving, they'll put up their Christmas tree {because they like the twinkling lights}. Just like a golden October afternoon, those two make me smile.
