Kewpie

Here's a classic American icon that many of you will remember with fondness...

While we were visiting my parents last weekend the boys dug out my old Kewpie doll. {It's not an original.} How many of you had one too?

The Kewpie doll, c. 1913, was designed by Joseph Kallus. The doll's design is based on Rose O'Neill illustrations that were featured in the Ladies Home Journal in 1909. The name Kewpie was inspired by "cupid" -- see the resemblance?
