I enjoyed poking around an abandoned school building last weekend when we were in the mountains. This old place is still a beauty despite having seen better days. It was deserted for a shiny, new replacement but has now been reclaimed... the plan is to restore it, making it a center for the arts.
Imagine... golden sunlight flooding creative spaces through big, old windows. Inspiring!
And, speaking of school... my little schoolboy heads back to his classroom in the morning. It's been such a relaxing and fun break... I must admit, I'm a bit mournful to see it end.
It felt like spring today. I threw open the windows to let in the fresh air and the four of us spent the afternoon outside in the sunshine. At dusk, when a bit of a chill crept in and tickled our skin, we happily tromped indoors to watch The Polar Express one. last. time. pausing it only once, long enough to eat macaroni and cheese and apple slices for dinner. It was a nice way to end the Christmas break.
The alarm will go off early, very early, tomorrow morning so I must tuck myself into bed shortly, but first, perhaps, I'll work on a bit of sewing or, on second thought, maybe I'll just hunker down to read a chapter of Treasure Island.
A bright new day awaits us... a school day... school no longer abandoned. Goodnight, festive holidays. It has been lovely!
