A Birthday Cake

I woke... a special day dawning. Midmorning we stir together a chocolate cake generously laced with anticipation. We wait for news. The phone finally rings this evening, right before dinner. He's here! Another boy-cousin, my third nephew, just born, now in my sister's arms. We rejoice and there is cake for everyone. Everyone except the birthday boy. Just wait until next year Little Man!
